Anatomic Porcelain

I had the impression i posted Kate MacDowell's work on Annalikes before, but apparently i didn't. I really like the medium MacDowell uses to create these strange and interesting sculptures. She uses porcelain because of its translucence, and when she lights the sculptures from within you can see the entire anatomy. MacDowell asks us to look at how the human society influences our natural world, "the union between man and nature is shown to be one of friction and discomfort." Symbolism aside, the work is beautifully intricate and the fact that it is in white only reminds us of classical and baroque influence.

I absolutely love this one!
