AbsolutArt Dubai: The review

For over 30 years ABSOLUT has collaborated with some of the greatest artists of our time, and today the ABSOLUT Art Collection compromises more than 800 works. An exhibition is being held at Carbon 12 gallery, where some of the finest pieces are being displayed for the first time in Dubai. The event is also launching ABSOLUT Articulation Art competition, to give Dubai's creative community the chance to follow in the footsteps of artists like Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. Participation at this event is by invitation-only due to limited spaces. It will be interesting to see the work that will come out of this, will keep you posted! Here are a few of my favorite pieces from last night.

Ben Vautier "ABSOLUT Ben" 1999, oil on canvas

Romero Britto "ABSOLUT Britto 'Good life'" 1989, acrylic on canvas
Chong Jae-Kyoo "ABSOLUT Secret/Debuffet" 2000, painting on canvas
I would've like to see some more recent ones as well. Check out Indian artist Subodh Gupta's piece recently revealed. Gupta's exclusive contribution is a 4-foot tall interpretation of the iconic bottle, made using only traditional kitchen utensils found in Indian homes. He's only the second Indian artist to contribute to ABSOLUT art; designer Manish Arora designed a bottle for the brand in 2009. I personally like Gupta's more because it feels like you can grab it, it's a lot more appealing visually.
