Rock of Mylar

Tara Donovan, New York-based artist, is famous for transforming everyday objects like straws, scotch tape, paper plates, plastic cups and toothpicks in amazing artistic pieces. This time she's used Mylar, a thin polyester film used in packaging, and folded it into balls to create an 11-foot tall sculpture that looks out of this world! The installation is now exhibited at Pace Gallery in New York, and will be displayed until April 9, 2011, if you're there it's definitely something worth seeing.

  2. I wish that I could stand in the gallery to soak in this amazing sculpture. I mean...soak it in. I love that Tara Donovan uses ordinary objects to make her pieces. Thanks for sharing this. I would have never seen it otherwise. I doubt that Tara is going to show in a gallery in Lubbock, TX any time soon.

  3. Thanks for Rock of Mylar. As a relatively new blogger just starting to experiment with photos to add to my posts, I enjoy looking at stuff presented in new ways.
