Remembering McQueen

Last night the Metropolitan Museum in New York revealed the long anticipated exhibition "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" to commemorate the remarkable fashion career of the designer. The exhibition will highlight McQueen's significant contribution to the world of fashion from his postgraduate collection in 1992 to his final runway presentation after his death in February 2010. The show will run until July 31, 2011. 100 pieces of work will be displayed.

McQueen's cloths were photographed for the exhibition by Solve Sundsbo on live models which were then digitally altered to look like mannequins.

Andrew Bolton, the curator of this event, shares his thoughts on the lat McQueen.
"Alexander McQueen was best known for his astonishing and extravagant runway presentations, which were given dramatic scenarios and narrative structures that suggested avant-garde installation and performance art. His fashions were an outlet for his emotions and expression of the deepest, often darkest, aspects of his imagination. he was a true romantic in the Byronic sense of the word - he channeled the sublime."
