Pixel Perfect

I've always wondered what to do with all the paint swatches i've collected over the years, choosing the right colors for my walls, and now i found a little inspiration. Madiha Siraj, an artist based in New Jersey, used paint swatches to creatively dress up an area with the squares, producing a colorful pixelated space. Viewers are taken on a visual trip by the colorful patterns as soon as they step in.

So maybe i won't cover an entire room, but a collage project sounds like a better idea!

Brrrr'illiant Photographs by Gray Malin

A beautiful series of photographs created by Gray Malin titled Antartica:The White Continent, aims to raise awareness about climate change and its consequences. By juxtaposing the brilliant white snow, and crystal blue waters with warm weather objects, Malin reminds us that they are not meant to be seen together. Malin traveled 8,092 miles to capture these beautiful images, in hopes that viewers recognize the adverse effects that we're having on our planet,  and if we don't, then these strange scenes will become a reality.

Let's move away a little from the concept and talk about the composition, i can't help but love the addition of something so colorful to something so calm and serene, reminds me of the morning after a party and the left over confetti on the floor. What do you think?

The series of photographs are available for purchase on Malin's website. Proceeds will go to the Climate Reality Project

Norway Notes

The 2 winning concepts on one note

About a year ago, the central bank of Norway, Norges Bank, held a competition to redesign a series of bank notes. Designers had to follow the theme of the "Sea". Initially the bank would choose one winning design to go with but instead decided to merge two different winning concepts. One side of the note will feature a concept called Norwegian Living Space by The Metric System and Terje Tonnessen, representing the coastal life. And on the other side of the note, the concept entitled Beauty of Boundaries by Snohetta Design will be featured. It's a more modern concept using a lot of bold color and computerized pixels as an abstract of the sea.

Below are the Snohetta Design concept

The Metric System concept

To be very honest with you, i think they're really wonderful designs, and i really like the idea of merging to completely different styles, although it can look disconnected at first i absolutely love the contrast.
However there's one concept submission that i must share with you because i find it absolutely charming. Aslak Gurholt Ronsen's concept created his designs out of children's drawings, basically asking kids to redraw his illustrations on the other side of the note. The results are amazing!

Anyhow!
The winning notes will be printed in 2017 :)
