Fenton's Solitude

I want to take you through the process of Joe Fenton's 5x8ft illustration. This was definitely a work of patience, as he spent 10 hrs a day, 7 days a week for 10 months to complete this magnificent piece. The work titled "Solitude" was created on a small scale at first and magnified. Fenton started using graphite and finished it all off with acrylic and ink. He's very much influenced by Todd Schorr works, illustrating the characters with surrealism and darkness. Look at the detail in the scene illustrated and you'll find yourself staring at it for some time, trying to make out all the elements included, clocks and skulls and all sorts of creepy crawlies.
